New Zealander Physiotherapist, Brian Mulligan developed The Mulligan Concept which includes Mobilization with Movement (MWM) for the arms and legs and Sustained Natural Apophyseal Glides (SNAG) in the spine.
Our physical therapists use these techniques to help increase your range of motion during functional movements, like lifting, pushing, and pulling.

How Does Mulligan Treatment Work?
We start with you in a position that is limited and in pain. However, we limit your motion to the pain-free range. This allows your joint to move freely in an activity without pain. For example, if bending forward to reach for an item is painful, mobilization would be performed while bending forward in a painless range to decrease joint restrictions and improve the fluidity of your movement.
How Long Does It Take To See Results From Mulligan Mobilizations?
We see improvement as early as one treatment. Combining Mulligan with other manual techniques and strengthening has been shown to drastically impact your mobility and function.
What Conditions Do We Treat With Mulligan Mobilizations?
Take a look below for examples of limitations that we treat:
- Ankle (climbing stairs, walking, hiking, etc.)
- Low back (bending forward/backward, sitting)
- Hip (crossing your legs, putting on socks)
- Shoulder (Reaching overhead, reaching behind back)
- Neck (Headaches, looking over your shoulder, looking down)
